LOCATION & CONTACT
The Scott family has been in the restaurant business in the Ludington area for over 50 years. Dwight “Scotty” Scott purchased the Wren's Roost on Hamlin Lake in 1964 and then the Town House (now Michael’s) in downtown Ludington in the mid 1970’s. The Wren's Roost burned to the ground in 1977. Scotty then bought the Swedish Coffee Pot and renamed it "Scotty’s" later that year. There was a massive kitchen fire in 1989, which closed down the restaurant for renovation and clean up. In 2017, the famous barn wood sign blew down in a storm, and has since been replaced. Scotty's has been owned by Scotty’s son, Dick and grandson, Chip. New management and eventual ownership has recently occurred. The Scott family still currently owns PM Steamers, which is located on the waterfront across from the city marina at 502 W. Loomis St.
In 2017, Dick proposed an offer to his head chef and kitchen manager of over 10 years, Kyle Jensen, to purchase Scotty's. In June, 2018, Kyle and his wife, Kara, became new management for the restaurant, and are renting the restaurant, with intention to buy. The Jensen family has been a part of Scotty's for decades, as Kyle's father, Vic, managed the kitchen before him, and Kyle's mother, Kim, and brothers Derek and Cody have all worked for the Scott family. Kara has also worked for the Scott family at PM Steamers for over 10 years.
The Jensens would like to thank Dick Scott and his family for this opportunity to lead Scotty's into the future and to continue their tradition of a casual fine-dining experience for many years to come.
